Details
Botero, who passed away in September 2023, was heralded as one of the most significant artists of our time. His work, distinguished by an unparalleled number of exhibitions and broad international appeal, has been extensively covered in films and documentaries. As the first Colombian artist to achieve global acclaim, Botero introduced the term “Boteroesque” to describe his unique style of depicting voluminous figures. The Los Angeles Times praised him as belonging to "a rarefied group of 20th-century artists whose imagery is immediately recognizable." Likewise, The New York Times noted his stature as "among the world’s best-known and commercially successful artists," with his creations consistently fetching seven-figure sums at auctions for years. His public sculpture exhibitions, such as the display of 14 bronzes on Park Avenue in New York City and over 30 sculptures on the Champ-Élysées in Paris, have invariably attracted large audiences.
We are honoured to announce an event that celebrates the enduring legacy of Fernando Botero, carried forward by his son, Fernando Botero Zea. With a commitment to sharing his father's artistic achievements globally, Botero Zea will join us on April 24th for an exclusive masterclass. This event promises a unique insight into the legacy of Botero, delivered by someone who has experienced it closely. We invite you to be part of this special occasion, which will include a deep dive into Botero's work, followed by an opportunity to mingle over drinks.
