Muay Thai

Muay Thai originated in Thailand over 500 years ago as a battlefield combat system used by Siamese soldiers. It later evolved into a national sport and cultural tradition, becoming globally popular in the 20th century through international competition. Muay Thai uses: fists, elbows, knees and shins.

Two of the most famous Muay Thai fighters are Buakaw Banchamek and Saenchai, both of whom helped popularize the sport internationally. Training and competition typically require boxing gloves, hand wraps, shin guards, mouthguards, traditional Muay Thai shorts, and a boxing ring. Major promoters and organizations that have contributed to the global growth of Muay Thai include Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Rajadamnern Stadium, ONE Championship, and brands such as Fairtex and Yokkao.

BJJ

BJJ developed in Brazil in the early 20th century, adapted from Japanese Judo by the Gracie family, especially Carlos and Hélio Gracie. It focused on technique and leverage to allow smaller fighters to defeat larger opponents.

Two of the most famous figures in BJJ are Hélio Gracie and Roger Gracie, both known for their technical mastery and influence on the sport. Practitioners usually train and compete wearing a gi or rash guards for no-gi competitions, along with belts to indicate rank, mouthguards, and training mats. Major organizations and promoters in BJJ include the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC), and well-known teams such as Gracie Barra and Alliance Jiu-Jitsu.

MMA

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a modern combat sport that became popular in the 1990s by combining techniques from multiple martial arts, including Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and boxing. MMA allows both striking and grappling, making it one of the most complete fighting sports in the world.

Two of the most famous MMA fighters are Ilia Topuria and Conor McGregor, who helped bring mainstream attention to the sport through their success and personalities. Fighters typically use open-finger MMA gloves, mouthguards, shorts, and groin protectors, competing inside a cage or ring under unified rules. Major promoters responsible for the global expansion of MMA include the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Bellator MMA, ONE Championship, and the Professional Fighters League (PFL).
