He will give an overview of some challenges Behavioral Science companies have to face when encouraging organizations to experiment and some challenges in experimenting in developing countries.

By Kelvin Kihindas - He will talk about what behavioral science requires us to do i.e. testing, ideation, prototyping and execution in reference to policy making process,  The policy process is normally conceptualized as sequential parts or stages. These are (1) problem emergence, (2) agenda setting, (3) consideration of policy options, (3) decision-making, (5) implementation, and (6) evaluation (Jordan and Adelle, 2012). Specifically based on the current COVID19 pandemic based on policies put in place. Did the policy makers, government put in consideration the general populations needs before imposing policies in relations to public transport, closure of eateries, Impose 4am to 8pm curfew in Kenya.

In this session, I'll share some topline learnings on delivering behavioural science to improve outcomes from how we use energy at home (do less) to how we learn at work (do more). As well as the science, I'll also give some thoughts on what I think is needed to effectively take behavioural science into business and policy.

Julián is the Director for Colombia at Heurística, an applied Behavioral Science consultancy in Latin America. He holds an MSc in Behavioral and Economic Science from the University of Warwick (UK) and a B.Eng from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB; Colombia). He has participated in projects to increase people's savings, apply behavioral insights, and help companies seeking to integrate behavior change as a tool to foster innovation. He has also spent his time as a lecturer in behavioral science topics in several Colombian universities. Julian was awarded a Chevening Scholarship in 2015 and has obtained other academic distinctions throughout his life. Previously, he worked in information technology, with more focus on cybersecurity.

Silvia Cottone is an applied behavioral scientist at Heurística (Lima, Perú). Her work focuses on understanding the consumer’s decision-making process to design scientifically informed solutions. She studied a master’s in Behavioural Science for Management at the University of Stirling. She has experience in applying insights of Behavioural Science in developed and developing countries to encourage sustainable consumer behavior; design solutions to improve the user journey; manage behavioral science projects in the financial sector; design interventions to promote preventive behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Marta is a Senior Advisor at BIT North America. She works with government agencies and international organizations to design interventions informed by behavioral science and rigorously evaluate its impact to inform policy decisions. Her research expands a diverse set of policy areas. Since joining the team in 2016, Marta has worked on promoting formalization and tax compliance in Mexico and Guatemala; gender-based violence in Egypt, Georgia and Chile; financial inclusion in Mexico; and on education in Peru and Chile. She has collaborated with a wide range of partners, including the United Nations Development Programme, the World Bank, and the President’s Office in Mexico. Prior to BIT, she worked as a Senior Policy Associate at MIT’s Poverty Action Lab, leading its activities to promote evidence informed policymaking in Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, and Paraguay. Among her major projects was supporting the establishment of MineduLab, the first unit dedicated to implementing low cost innovation using behavioral science in Latin America. Marta holds a Master in Public Policy degree from Harvard Kennedy School. She graduated with a concentration in Economic Analysis of Public Policy, Behavioral and Data Science. While at Harvard, she was a Fulbright Scholar and a Real Colegio Complutense Fellow. She holds two undergraduate degrees in Law and Political Science and Public Administration from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

Kelvin is a Senior Research Compliance Officer at Busara, serving as a liaison on matters of human research ethics and research compliance policy and procedures for administration, researchers and governmental/regulatory authorities. He monitors the compliance program for periodic updates and coordinates compliance-related projects as necessary; including Institutional Review Boards, IRB approvals. He works with study investigators at the center to make sure that research implemented is ethically sound and compliant with internal processes and national/international standards. Busara Center has country offices in Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania and India and project presence across the globe.

Guy is a Professor with HST, where he delivers courses on the MCXI. Away from IE, Guy is Head of Behavioural Science with The Creative Engagement Group (UK&US). Prior to this, Guy was a member of the founding management team of the US-based energy and behaviour start-up, Enervee. Earlier still, he was a professor with Henley Business School (UK) and Head of Business Insights with Havas (Global). Guy's work with both Enervee and TCEG has secured awards for innovation and impact, and has been published widely, including in The Financial Times, The Economist and Harvard Business Review. Guy has an MBA (IE), has completed Masters and post-grad programmes with the University of Cambridge and Stanford Graduate School of Business, and holds an award-winning PhD in applied social psychology (Cranfield, UK). He lives in Bath with his wife Ness and their three children - Freddie, Leafy and Ettie.
