The Campus Corner (Special Friday Edition): Lunar Nights, Soft Mornings & Serious Flavor ๐ŸŒ™๐Ÿฎ

Marina Maeso - Wednesday, April 8
 Campus Corner

Welcome back to The Campus Corner! Every two weeks, we bring you closer to the people behind your program—not just as your experience team but as locals who love sharing the best of Madrid. We want to build a more personal connection with you and help make Madrid feel like home.

In each edition, you’ll find our favorite spots, from hidden cafes to campus must-visits. Whether you're looking for a brunch spot or just curious about what we love around the city, we hope our picks add something special to your day.

Let’s keep exploring together—enjoy this edition and we'll see you in the next one! Guiรฑo

Meet Jorge

Born and raised in Madrid—but almost always questioned about my nationality because I “don’t look Spanish” (whatever that means). Yes, I’m one of those who pronounce Madrid with a “z.”

I’m the Program Specialist for MSMC on the Business Masters team. What does that mean? I’m the one handling all those behind-the-scenes admin and logistics tasks—whether it’s coordinating with professors or helping you, the students. I also get to do the fun stuff: organizing events, visits, and Immersion Weeks.

At work, you’ll rarely see me without my giant water bottle (hydration is key, folks!) and a big smile—always ready with a bad joke or two. If I’m not checking my inbox, I’m probably updating my To Do list—I love bringing order and logic to my day.

Before this role, I worked in marketing—mainly in the medical and audiovisual sectors—and also in events. One of my favorite past roles was organizing massive events for La Vuelta (Spain’s cycling tour). Wild ride, literally.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I never miss a plan. I’m that friend who gets everyone together and makes things happen—group chats fear me (in the best way).

Any go-to activities?
If I’m not trying out a new restaurant, I’m probably at the movies. Team MARVEL forever—and yes, I’m one of those people who say Nolan is the best director. No regrets. I also love going to the theater whenever I can—and if there’s a good party, count me in.

How about traveling?
Absolutely! I love exploring new places whenever I get the chance. Got any recommendations?

Infinito Delicias

Need a change of scenery that actually gets things done? Infinito Delicias is part co-working spot, part cultural hub, part “I’ll just stay one more hour.” Drop in for free, grab a seat, and let the day flow between focused work and a full agenda of talks, workshops, and creative activities—no membership, no pressure.

Unconventional Breakfast Club ๐Ÿณโœจ

Madrid mornings are shifting.

The sun lingers a little longer. Group chats say “coffee?” at 10:47. Your calendar looks full, but somehow breakfast feels… essential.

If you’re going to romanticize your life this semester, start before noon. Here’s where to do it properly.

๐Ÿฅ‚ Fiera: Breakfast, Elevated

Fiera is for mornings when you want more than a croissant-and-go. Expect bold flavors, beautifully plated dishes, and a space that makes even a random Tuesday feel curated.

Order something unexpected. Stay longer than planned. This is breakfast with presence.

๐ŸŒฟ Kera: Soft Mornings, Strong Coffee

Kera is that effortlessly cool friend who “just knows places.” Fresh, colorful plates. Great coffee. Clean, design-forward interiors that make you want to reset your week.

Perfect for a long catch-up, a solo reflection moment, or pretending you’re in a lifestyle campaign.

Quinta de los Molinos, Take Two ๐ŸŒฟโœจ

We told you last week to go to La Quinta de los Molinos.

The rain said no... The sun has now said yes.

So here’s the updated advice: try to visit next week. Let the park fully dry, let the skies stay blue, and then go see it in its best light. We promise — it won’t disappoint.

Once the flowers begin to bloom it's the perfect study break.

๐ŸŽโœจ Horse Energy Only: Madrid Goes Lunar

Midterms coming. Deadlines lurking. Group chats on fire. But outside your Google Calendar? Madrid is glowing red and gold.

The Year of the Fire Horse is here, and the city is celebrating! Here’s your guide to Lunar New Year 2026 in Madrid.

๐Ÿ“ USERA: The Heart of It All.
Usera is the epicenter. If you go to one place, make it this one.

๐Ÿ‰ The Big Moment: Grand Parade in Pradolongo
๐Ÿ“… February 22 | 12:00 PM
๐Ÿ“ Parque Pradolongo

๐ŸŽ† Fireworks by the Lake
๐Ÿ“… February 21 | 8:00 PM
๐Ÿ“ Parque Pradolongo

๐ŸŽง Night Energy: DJ Sets in the Park
Because culture and techno can coexist. Both for free!

  • DJ Yang – February 20 (6–11 PM) Asian pop, house, reggaeton, EDM fusion.
  • DJ Dr. Kielmannsegge – February 21 (6–8 PM) Classic hits + Asian contemporary mix.
๐Ÿ“ Chinese Cultural Center (10-minute walk from IE)
Multiple art exhibitions running through February and March. Free entrance and a quiet afternoon plan.

๐Ÿƒ Run Into the Year: Spring Festival Run ๐ŸŽ
If your New Year resolution survived January, this is your moment.
๐Ÿ“… March 1
๐Ÿ“ Paseo de la Castellana
Choose your spice: 5K, 8K, or 16K.

๐Ÿฎ Plaza de España: The Temple Fair
๐Ÿ“… February 28 – March 1
Traditional Chinese Temple Fair in the city center with live performances, cultural booths and street food. It always delivers!

๐Ÿน And for something different...
  • Traditional Chinese Archery Workshops
  • Ping-Pong Championship with National Coach

๐ŸŽจ A Study Break, but Make It Cool

Swap lecture notes for spray cans at Fundación Canal with Arte Urbano: de los orígenes a Banksy. This free exhibition is the perfect mental reset—bold visuals, zero effort, and just enough rebellion to shake off study mode. Walk in stressed, walk out inspired (and slightly cooler). ๐Ÿ–คโœจ

Market Chaos, Michelin Energy ๐ŸŒถ๏ธโœจ Tripea

Hidden inside Mercado de Vallehermoso (yes, a proper neighborhood market), there’s a tiny counter serving some of the boldest flavors in Madrid. Casual setting. Serious food. The kind of place you talk about after.

Chef Roberto Martínez mixes Asian and Latin influences into plates that are spicy, punchy, and not here to be subtle: curries, ceviches, unexpected combinations... the kind of dishes that make you pause mid-bite.

It’s creative and it’s intense... but it works.

English Poetry soft mood

Not every February plan needs wine or glitter. This Poetry Workshop is a gentle, welcoming space to write, reflect, and experiment with language, guided by @instabeleana and open to everyone, whether you write all the time or have never shared a poem before.

Held on selected Sundays and Saturdays in February at 18:30, it’s an affordable, cozy plan (€15) in the heart of Madrid. Come alone, come curious, and leave with something you created yourself. More details here.

Because February can also be about words, not just hearts. ๐Ÿ’ญ๐Ÿ’Œ

โœจ This is a special edition (we couldn’t resist). Our next regular issue lands on March 4th, mark your calendar.... more Madrid magic is coming soon.

๐Ÿ“ข A call to YOU! ๐Ÿ“ข

Madrid is full of amazing spots, and you've bee here 7 months now so who knows them better than you? ๐Ÿ˜‰Whether it’s your go-to café for studying, the best late-night bites, or a hidden gem for weekend brunch, we want to hear about it!

If you're having a rough day, here is a cat video to try and make your day a tad better. Ojos de sonrisa
