This April, we come together around the idea that the Earth is not just where we live, it is what connects us. Under the theme “Honoring Our Shared Home — Together,” this year’s Earth Month invites our community to reflect on the everyday interactions that sustain our planet and the shared responsibility that binds us. Caring for the Earth is not an individual act nor a distant ambition, but a collective commitment rooted in our everyday lives.
Throughout the month, we will explore sustainability through dialogue, action, and awareness. From learning spaces to collective activities, every moment is an opportunity to reconnect with our shared home and with one another.

The Guillermo & Michèle de la Dehesa Library has introduced a new Sustainability & ESG filter in the E-resources and Databases section to support research and teaching in this rapidly evolving field.
This feature allows you to quickly identify databases that provide specialised ESG data, sustainability reports, rankings, and academic content. Simply visit the E-resources and Databases page and apply the Sustainability & ESG filter to refine the list of resources, then access each database directly for your searches.
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Campus Bloom Day is a community-driven event where students, faculty, and staff come together to plant pollinator-friendly plants across the IE Tower garden. By creating vibrant habitats for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, we contribute to biodiversity and a greener environment.
Join us for a day of hands-on gardening, learning, and making a lasting impact on our campus ecosystem! 🌷🌼🐝

Ready to turn waste into something valuable? In this interactive workshop with Professor Peer Timmers, you’ll learn practical, easy-to-follow composting techniques for home. Bring your own kitchen and garden scraps, build your compost on-site, and leave with your own bin.
3:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Join us for an interactive and engaging workshop designed to explore how our current use of natural resources impacts the planet, and what we can do about it.
Through a collaborative “collage” activity, participants will work together to understand the limits of our current economic model and discover how circular economy principles can help create more sustainable systems.
In this fun, science-based workshop, you will:
- Understand the limits of our current use of natural resources
- Explore practical solutions and collective actions to build a circular economy
- Act by identifying concrete steps individuals, organizations, and communities can take today
This workshop combines learning, collaboration, and creativity to help participants rethink how resources are used and imagine a more sustainable future.
10:30 AM – 3:30 PM
This event is a day trip that focuses on the historical, and environmental significance of the Cave of Enebralejos, a protected prehistoric site. The trip highlights the importance of preserving both cultural heritage and natural environments.
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Have you ever wondered how you could improve things around you? How you could create an impact for the common good?
At the Sustainability Office our goal is to promote initiatives that encourage the importance of community, the environment and human connection.
This is why we gather at the Sustainability Townhall to listen to proposals from our community, for our community. The space where we assess the things that can be improved, and the solutions that foster positive change.
Everyone at IE – students, faculty, staff and alumni - can participate by presenting proposals for projects they will lead that positively impact the campus community or the cities of Madrid or Segovia. Presentations can be either in-person or online, and proposals will be accepted until April 15th, 2026.
Even if you are not presenting a proposal, we invite you to come, listen and be inspired!
Approved proposals will be funded up to 1.000€ (depending on evaluation, budget and feasibility).
SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL THROUGH THIS LINK
We are looking forward to seeing you there and hearing your ideas!
2:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Join School of Architecture and Design for the Final Pitch Event of the second annual Sustainability Challenge! Our interdisciplinary teams have been working to develop their business concepts to convert agricultural and urban wastes into products. The winner of the pitch competition will go on to participate in the IEU Venture Labs program.
Following a welcome from Professors Matan Mayer and Taryn Mead, the pitch competition will begin, followed by a cocktail while we await the judges decision. Join us and support your fellow students!
11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Step into a creative journey where nature becomes inspiration! In this immersive workshop, participants will explore the art of botanical printing, transforming leaves, flowers, and organic textures into unique visual compositions.
Guided by a mindful approach to observation, you’ll learn how to reinterpret the natural world through artistic expression, capturing its forms, patterns, and subtle details. Using sustainably sourced materials and eco-conscious techniques, this experience invites you to slow down, connect with your surroundings, and create with intention.
No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore.
1:30 PM – 2:00 PM
Join this 3rd wednesday of the month to our guided meditation practice in María de Molina 31, open to students, faculty and staff. This is an invitation to take a mental break, regain balance, and learn how to use mindfulness to bring your attention back to the present moment and manage stress.

Second Life at IE invites you to be part of a more conscious way of consuming, one rooted in sharing, reuse, and community.
Through an open-air marketplace, this initiative creates a space where belongings can find a new purpose. Items you no longer need can become useful to someone else, extending their life while reducing waste.
Join us to explore how simple exchanges can contribute to a more circular IE Community! Whether you’re looking to share, find, or just learn more, this is an opportunity to engage with a community rethinking the way we use resources, together.
