Subject: Update from the Consulting Club
Dear members
A warm welcome to those who have recently joined the IE school community as new students, and a friendly welcome back to current students.
A few changes to the weekly meetings
The Club continues to look at ways to deliver greater value to members. As part of this effort, a few changes will be made to how the regular meetings will be run.
First, the regular meeting will be held every Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm. The venue will be in either Room 401 or 402 at MM31.
Second, we will continue our effort at inviting practitioners as guest speakers, in person or via video call to our meetings. If you know someone in the industry, please help out fellow members by inviting them as a special guest.
Third, case cracking practices will be held during the regular meetings, when guest speakers are not scheduled. You will partner up with other members and solve two cases; one as you as the interviewer and another as the interviewee. Afterwards, we can debrief together to discuss what works well and doesn’t.
Lastly, attendance register will be kept.
Agenda for the meeting on 20 September 2017
Pedro Freire, Manager of Digital Services from KPMG will be with us from 7pm to 8pm to kick off the first meeting for this half of year. He will speak about his experiences and trends in the industry. Come armed with questions!
Please register your attendance on the Club’s FB page so that we can keep track. This will be posted by tomorrow.
Needless to say, consulting firms want to recruit from schools who have interest in their firms. One indicator is the number of attendees to these information sessions. So more you attend, more likelihood our school will become a preferred school for recruitment.
We’ll also be taking expressions of interest from members who want to become coordinators of the Club through to next year.
Other upcoming speakers - 27 September 2017:
Vijay Warrier, principal consultant, process and domain consulting, from information technology consulting company Infosys Ltd will talk about the company, its consulting practice, company’s way of working such as zero distance, design thinking, addressing pain points etc as well his experiences from consulting the airline industry.
Consulting Industry Talent Forum on 30 October 2017
The IE Careers Center is arranging a Talent Forum where a number of consulting firms will come to campus. More information will be available soon so keep your eyes out.
