COMING UP ON HEALTH, WELL-BEING & HAPPINESS

NEWS

December is Authentic Connection Month

Academically, December is a short, intense month usually filled with deadlines and exams that mark the end of the semester. At a more personal level, it is also a month of celebration, holiday cheer and a chance to spend quality time with our loved ones. The theme of #AuthenticConnection is an invitation to stay present in our interactions with ourself and others this holiday season to fully enjoy and appreciate connection. After all, having the opportunity to really connect with those close to us is one of the best rewards after a demanding semester, and being present with them is also the best gift one can give. Check out below our invitations to share a device-free coffee and send a thank-you note to those who made your semester better before going on holidays.

Device-Free Coffee

Hey! We know you are probably at one of the busiest moments in the semester, and socializing might not be your priority. However, we also know that rest is important, and one of the best ways to disconnect and recharge is through human connection. So, you are invited to a free hot drink next Wednesday, December 15th from 15:30-16:00 at the participating cafeterias in all 3 campuses. No need to register, just come and leave your devices and concerns away for a while to chat and connect with others!

Send a Thank-you Note!

Can you believe this fall semester is almost over? For many of us it meant plenty of changes such as a new campus, city, classes, teams, schedules, challenges, opportunities, etc. Before going on your well-deserved holidays, we wanted to invite you, and the whole IE community, to take a moment and think of those who have made your semester better, easier and more enjoyable. Whether it was a supportive classmate or colleague, an inspiring and encouraging professor, or a helpful staff member from any department at IE, there's always someone making a difference in our day to day, and it's often up to us to notice and appreciate it.

RESETTING HOMO SAPIENS PODCAST (RHS)

Sole Artom on Homelessness & Human Dignity
Season#3 Episode 5

Have you ever crossed the street only to wonder how to interact with a homeless human being? In this episode, Sole Artom - a 5th-year Politics, Law, and Economics student at IE University - guides us through her bachelor thesis on how we might tackle the issue of homelessness while fostering human dignity.

Together we compare the homelessness policies of Spain, Finland, and Hungary to discover which approach might contribute the most to solving the puzzle of the reintegration of fellow roofless homo sapiens in our society.

Gift of Time exercise
Greater Good Science Center - University of California, Berkeley

When we’re busy, it’s easy to sacrifice quality time with others in favor of work and other obligations. But that can lead to regrets: We fall out of touch with friends, or miss out on our kids’ milestones. This exercise ensures that we allocate time for the important people in our lives.
