Book Reading

Stay tuned for our upcoming Book Reading Events, where you'll get to read two books to debate global issues connected with the SDGs.

The first book is Factory Girls by Leslie Chang, which explores the drastic change in the life of five women who leave the rural areas of China for the city. The book revolves around the daily life of these five women working in factories under harsh conditions. Moreover, this book strongly connects to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and highlights that to be able to achieve economic growth and decent work in a world that is going through a technological revolution is to learn English and have access to technology.

The second book, The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells, illustrates the consequences that global warming can have on us. It brings attention to three main consequences: plague, famine, and heat. He repeatedly states that soon, if we do not change our habits, our planet will become impossible to live on. This book is closely related to SDG 13: Climate Action. This book mostly illustrates how humans can be the center of climate action. In short, what we do from now on and the choices we make in our daily lives may have a huge impact on our future.

Our first event!

Lights, Camera, Climate Action! 🌎🍿  Get ready for an eye-opening movie night that's more than just a film – it's a call to action! 🌱 Join us as we watch a gripping documentary on climate change and dive into meaningful discussions afterward. 🗣️ Let's turn inspiration into action together.

The documentary "Before the Flood" seeks to shed light on the reality of climate change in five different continents. With the overall concept of climate change becoming more accurate, and the center of internal politics, this documentary explores the moment climate change started to be caused by us humans in the Anthropocene era.
