On February 24, four years after the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the IE School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs convenes an academic panel to assess the evolution of the conflict and explore possible future scenarios.
The discussion will feature Cristina Gallach, Amanda Sloat and José Luis Herrero Ansola, whose combined experience in diplomacy, transatlantic relations and European security offers a multidimensional perspective on the war’s trajectory.
Rather than taking sides, the panel seeks to deepen understanding. Four years on, how has the conflict reshaped European security architecture? What are the implications for NATO, the European Union and transatlantic cooperation? How have sanctions, economic statecraft and diplomacy evolved? And crucially, are the political and strategic conditions emerging for a negotiated outcome — or for a prolonged confrontation?
This conversation aims to move beyond headlines and provide rigorous analysis at a moment when the war continues to redefine Europe’s geopolitical landscape.
