We’re hosting a WOW conversation with Arturo Guillén focused on the world of MMA from the inside out. We’ll explore his personal journey into the sport and the key lessons he’s learned, then unpack the business of MMA—how promotions, sponsorships, and media rights shape profitability, and what tends to create the most value: investing in fighters, events, or partner brands. We’ll also dive into audience growth and marketing, including the role of social media and how a fighter’s brand is built. From there, we’ll look at what it takes to scale an MMA organization and stage major events, the main challenges behind the scenes, and where the industry is heading with global expansion and new technologies like streaming, VR, and data. Finally, Arturo will share practical advice for students interested in entering the industry, and insights on WOW’s progress, including how Ilia Topuria and Cristiano Ronaldo came on board as stakeholders.

I’ve spent more than 26 years building and scaling businesses at the intersection of data, entertainment, and sport. As former Executive Vice President and Global Managing Director of the Movies division at Comscore (NASDAQ: SCOR), I led global strategy and expansion for the world’s leading film audience measurement platform. During my tenure, we strengthened industry standards across mature markets like the US and Europe while expanding into high-growth territories including India, the Middle East, West Africa, and Turkey. I negotiated multi-million-dollar agreements with every major Hollywood studio and worked closely with exhibition and distribution leaders to drive long-term industry growth. Earlier in my career, I launched Rentrak’s first international VOD measurement service, anticipating the digital transformation of filmed entertainment. I also served as Managing Director for Spain and Portugal at Nielsen EDI (NYSE: NLSN). Today, I focus on investing, governance, and entrepreneurship. I serve on several boards across education, sports, logistics, legal services, and entertainment, and I am a member of the Board of Directors of Nebrija University. I am also the Founder and Chairman of WOW, a mixed martial arts promotion attracting over 10,000 spectators per event and broadcast in more than 170 countries through UFC Fight Pass and Movistar+. I’m passionate about scaling businesses internationally, identifying structural growth opportunities, and building platforms that combine strong fundamentals with long-term brand equity. Frequent speaker at CinemaCon, Cannes, Berlinale, and other global forums. Mentor at YPO. Always open to conversations about growth, governance, and bold ideas.
