As part of the CIVICA Alliance, the Guillermo and Michèle de la Dehesa Library, together with the LSE Library (UK), invite researchers, research support staff and librarians to a half-day event focused on the practical implications of Open Science for research, funding and evaluation, and on the evolving role of institutional repositories as key research infrastructures supporting researchers across the research lifecycle.

Laura Bonora is an economist with a Master’s degree in Applied Statistics from the University of Alcalá de Henares. She is currently the National Contact Point (NCP) in Spain for the Research Infrastructures and Widening (Open Access) programme of Horizon Europe at the European Commission. In parallel, she works in the Open Science Unit of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), where she is the Technical Lead of RECOLECTA, the Spanish National Open Access Repositories Aggregator. She also actively participates in several leading international Open Science initiatives, including COAR, OpenAIRE, LA Referencia, and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

Eva Méndez is Full Professor of Library and Information Science at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). She holds a PhD in Library and Information Science and is an internationally recognised expert in metadata and open knowledge. She has participated in major international initiatives such as DCMI, OpenAire, and RDA, and was a Fulbright Research Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Among other responsibilities, Eva has been Chair of the EC Open Science Policy Platform (2018-2020) and member of the CoARA Steering Board (2022-2024). She has received several distinctions, including SPARC Europe’s Open Data Champion award. In January, she was appointed as a member of FECYT’s Advisory Board.

Rosie Higman is the Open Research Services Manager at LSE Library where she is the strategic lead on open research and manages a team responsible for open research, open access, research data management and bibliometrics. Prior to this she held research data management roles at the Universities of Sheffield, Manchester and Cambridge focusing on data sharing and advocacy for open research. She is also undertaking an AHRC-funded PhD on Open Access and the Role of the National Library which is jointly supervised by the University of Sheffield and the British Library.

Kraig Delana is an Assistant Professor of operations management at IE Business School and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions postdoctoral fellow. He completed his PhD in management science and operations at London Business School in 2019, and prior to joining IE was an assistant professor of operations and business analytics at the University of Oregon. His research uses both analytical and empirical methods to examine the impact of operational innovations and/or coordination between patients/providers in healthcare settings with the objective of generating a positive impact on outcomes, operations, and policy. His work has been published in Manufacturing & Service Operations Management and Management Science.

Patricia Riba is the Repository Manager at the IEU Library, where she specializes in open access and research data management. She manages content and metadata assets in the institutional repository, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and quality control in metadata entry. Patricia also defines and enforces best practices around metadata management. In addition to her work on repository operations, she provides research support and contributes to research evaluation through metrics and bibliometric analysis. With a background in Library Science, she played a key role in the creation of the university’s repository, designing its metadata schema, structure, and submission workflows from the ground up.
