Horacio González-Aleman is the CEO of Gospel Estudios, a fashion design brand based in Barcelona founded with soccer player Héctor Bellerín. NOT-READY-TO-WEAR is a guiding principle at the core of Gospel Estudios. Through design, production, and discourse, the studio tries to challenge fast consumption to promote a more mindful practice instead. NRTW is their way of doing things as a reaction to the current state of the industry; their philosophy involves taking a critical look at the cycle of consumption and revisiting tradition in order to take ownership over their habits.
About this Lecture:
What 3 years of process to create a responsible fashion brand has taught me. Where to start, tools, efficiency, choosing the right people, the psychology behind it, and most importantly, when to stop.
On another note, how technology can be an ally if you want to make a process as responsible as possible, and how advancement is not an enemy of more traditional means of creation.
About the Lecture Series 2024-2025
Testing new ideas in field conditions has been central to the design professions throughout history. In this year's annual lecture series, the IE University School of Architecture and Design aims to highlight contemporary practices that use experimentation as an integral part of their creative process.
