  • Who can apply?

    For the second edition, the Externship Program is open to students graduating in summer 2026 from specialized bachelor's and master's programs who are looking for a final boost to their CV!

  • What externships are available?

    Externships are posted twice a year - Winter Edition & Spring Edition - and are determined by the Extern platform. They can range from data to creation, AI, social media, finance, and more. Click here to see current available externships.

  • What are the requirements?

    The Externship Program is competitive. We will take your CV (in the Official Template), GPA, and fully completed application form into account when evaluating your application. The match of students to externships is done by Talent & Careers and is based on the established skills and profile provided by the respective companies.

  • How do I apply?

  • How long will my subscription last?

    Via the Externship Program, your subscription will last exactly 3 months, starting from your activation date. If you do not finish your externship in that time, you will be expected to renew the subscription.

  • Can I participate in other work experiences while collaborating on an externship?

    Yes, as long as your schedule and availability permit. It is your responsibility to arrange your timetable and know this.

  • What is the time commitment?

    Externships are part-time from 10 - 15 hours per week. Their durations depend on the company and specific externship and is indicated in each description. They can range from 6 - 12 weeks and are a part-time commitment.

  • Can I collaborate on more than one externship via the Externship Program?

    No. Via the Externship Program, students are allowed to participate in one externship at a time.

  • Are they internships?

    No. Externships are professional internship-like experiences with real companies, but do not require a visa or internship agreement, and do not count for credits.

  • Are they paid?

    This depends on each externship and individual company and their decision.

  • Does a collaboration on an externship impact my academic results?

    No. The Externship Program is an extra-curricular program. It has no impact on your grades, credits, or transcript.

  • Will I sign a contract?

    Students will click to sign a user agreement when they onboard with Extern.

  • How will my collaboration be assessed?

    Your performance will be assessed by your assigned mentor Extern Program Manager (PM).

  • How will I be recognized for my collaboration?

    You will receive a professional award certificate from Extern upon successful completion and assessment.

    Extern celebrates student achievement through two types of Professional Awards:

    🏅 Completer Professional Award – Granted to students who successfully complete their externship and meet all required milestones. Extern also verifies your project experience directly with recruiters, giving your work official credibility.

    🌟 Top Performer Professional Award – Awarded to the top 10% of each externship cohort. In addition to formal recognition, top performers may be invited to exclusive opportunities such as 1:1 sessions with company hosts, or even interviews for available internship roles.

    To qualify, students must:

    • Complete all mandatory modules

    • Finish the externship within the 3-week grace period after the official end date

    • Submit high-quality project work

  • How do I incorporate this into my CV?

    Feature your participation on your externship in the RELEVANT EXPERIENCE section of your CV, as you would any other impactful professional experience.

  • Who is responsible for me while collaborating on the externship?

    Each externship has an Extern Program Manager (PM). The PM will be listed on the externship page, and they will also send emails and set meetings at various points throughout the externship.
