IE University in Segovia has organized the contest 'Women and Sport' sponsored by the Junta de Castilla y León, in which students will have to reflect in drawings their vision of the role of women in sport.
The American Library Association, the world's oldest and largest association with more than 62,000 members, has selected a total of 36 international projects that demonstrate the value of libraries in promoting social justice and inclusion. Among these projects, the ALA has recognized the "Purple Corner" gender equality project created by IE University Library as one of the best library practices in the world.
When you enter the IE University library in Segovia, located on the second floor of the former Convent of Santa Cruz la Real, you will notice a unique corner that stands out from the rest: bright blue letters remind you that you are in IE University's Purple Corner, a recently created space on campus whose aim is to promote gender equality and raise awareness and prevent gender-based violence in the university context. On various shelves in the purple-colored library are all kinds of readings aimed at highlighting the importance of achieving real equality between men and women and the empowerment of women...
A group of high school students from Segovia participating in the "STEM Talent Girls" project today visited IE University's Segovia campus to visit its library and its IEU Fab Lab, departments currently led by women who are developing cutting-edge initiatives in their respective fields.Y LEÓN.-IE UNIVERSITY and the Alcázar Cooperative School in Segovia will combat gender violence in the classroom.
Students from the Cooperativa Alcázar school visited the new "Purple Corner" space, located in the library of the Santa Cruz la Real Campus.
IE University will launch a contest to stimulate the creation of "purple spots" in schools and institutes in Segovia in order to establish a network of spaces on equality at the service of all students.
A new space is available in Segovia Library, the Purple Corner, created in collaboration with the Vice-Rectorate of Students and the Junta de Castilla y León.
#IEPurpleCorner, a friendly space for all IE community with access to resources in gender equality, such as bibliography on gender studies, monthly suggested readings, brochures with practical information and our Purple Guest Book.
This is one more step in our aim to achieve each and every of the 17 SDGs, Sustainable Development Goals, which include Gender Equality.
During the colloquium, given by Silvia Estévez, Red Cross technician, the topic of raising awareness against gender violence was also discussed.
The program is part of the collaboration agreement between the Junta de Castilla y León and the universities of the region.
