The Collaborative Research Seminar Series (CRSS) at IE University is designed to showcase the ongoing and prospective research of our faculty members. By arranging the seminars around specific themes, we seek to uncover shared interests across the various schools at the university. The CRSS serves as a platform for faculty to discuss their current and future projects and provide opportunities for collaboration. We hope the CRSS will inspire and encourage other faculty members to share their research interests with the broader school and academic community.

We are very excited to launch the series with our first Seminar being held on Thursday, 17th of October. Please find the topic and speakers below.

TOPIC: Digital Humanities & Historical Legacies

DESCRIPTION: This session focuses on explaining current applications of digital tools to research in the Humanities. Digital Humanities has become in the last few years one of the most thriving fields of research. Digital tools have contributed to our better knowledge, analysis and display of human heritage. Susana Torres and Carlos Lastra will present various projects in which digital approaches have contributed to our better understanding of our past and present. Susana’s presentation focuses on how digital tools allow us a better study and understanding of medieval manuscript culture and Carlos uses digital tools to analyse current trends in museology.

SPEAKERS:
Carlos Lastra, Assistant Professor, School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs
Susana Torres, Assistant Professor of Humanities, School of Humanities
