Inma Ballesteros (Spain) and Sonia Faleiro (India) may often work behind the scenes, but they play an essential role in promoting writers within today’s global literary ecosystem. They are key figures in bringing diverse literary voices to festivals and book fairs around the world.
Ballesteros promotes Spanish culture through her role as Programming Director at Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), while Faleiro founded the mentorship programme South Asia Speaks, which seeks to amplify emerging literary voices across the region.
Together with writer and Deputy Director of La Vanguardia, Miquel Molina, they will discuss the importance of building networks that support literary communities and emerging talent, as well as their work leading AC/E and South Asia Speaks.
At the end of the event, the authors will sign copies of their books.

Inmaculada Ballesteros

Inmaculada Ballesteros holds a PhD with the distinction of ‘European Doctor’ in Art History, a European Diploma in Cultural Project Management and a Master’s degree in European Union Law. She has extensive experience in the cultural sector in countries such as Spain, Italy, Peru, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Between 2015 and 2023, she directed the Observatory of Culture and Communication at the Fundación Alternativas, coordinating the production of the ‘Report on the State of Culture in Spain’ and the Cultural Industries Forum. She is an expert consultant in the planning and evaluation of proposals for the development of public policies and projects in the fields of culture and communication. In addition to analysing cultural phenomena and practices, she has carried out projects for cultural institutions, universities and other public and private bodies. She has served as director of the Spanish Cultural Centre in Guatemala and the Spanish Cultural Centre in Nicaragua, as well as teaching on postgraduate programmes in Europe and Latin America.
Sonia Faleiro
Journalist and writer
Sonia Faleiro is a multi-award-winning journalist and writer of narrative non-fiction. Her latest book, The Good Girls: An Ordinary Killing (2021), was shortlisted for the Royal Society of Literature’s Ondaatje Prize and the ALCS Gold Dagger Award for non-fiction. It was selected as a recommended read by The New York Times and by the Human Rights Watch book club. She writes for The New York Times, Harper’s, MIT Technology Review, Granta, 1843 and The Times Literary Supplement. She is co-founder of the Deca journalism cooperative and founder of the South Asia Speaks literary mentoring programme. She is a Royal Society Literary Fellow at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Miquel Molina
Journalist and writer
Miquel Molina is a journalist and writer. As deputy editor of La Vanguardia, he writes a weekly opinion column on culture and cities every Sunday. He has also worked for the newspapers Segre, El Periódico de Aragón and El Periódico de Catalunya. He is the author of the novels Una flor del mal and La sonámbula. He has written the essays L’Everest a l’hora punta, Naturaleza muerta, Alerta Barcelona and Proyecto Barcelona. He is also the author of the literary non-fiction books Cinco horas en Venecia and Una semana en la Riviera. In 2010, he won the award for non-sexist journalism presented by the Associació de Dones Periodistes de Catalunya.
