In today’s fast-paced, interconnected, and increasingly turbulent world, we all face a unique and complex challenge when it comes to leading others and ourselves. With global uncertainties and shifting dynamics as a backdrop, there is a rising call to approach our roles with greater empathy and compassion. Yet finding a path to truly human-centered leadership - whether formal or informal- can feel uncertain. Compassionate leadership may be essential, but it can also be confusing as we balance the pressures of achieving results with the desire to support and inspire on a human level. In this session, we’ll explore what compassionate leadership may look like. We will start with a framework to clarify what compassion is. We’ll discuss how to avoid the ‘empathy trap’ and we’ll explore helpful strategies to lead with compassion - to foster connection, and inspire for growth. Compassion is not complete if it doesn’t include one-self. For this reason we’ll experience an evidence based practice on self-compassion, helping us to anchor in authentic leadership, so it becomes both sustainable and empowering.
