We long to live with confidence in our resources, but do we know how to do it? Many people identify their strengths, take away some interesting insight, but the next day everything remains the same. Weeks later, they don't even remember their strength labels, much less what to do with them. Identifying strengths is not enough. To turn its potential into safe value, we need to learn five essential skills that help us nurture what we're good at despite our negative biases, and through the vicissitudes of real life.
Living from strengths is not a pencil and paper exercise. It is about incorporating the strengths in life in a conscious and thoughtful way. It also requires handling strengths carefully. Because what may be our greatest potential may also be our greatest danger. Strengths are powerful and complex phenomena that invite us to delve deeper.
The ABCDE model is the first complete model, developed from professional practice at the intersection of Clinical Psychology, Applied Positive Psychology and Strengths Coaching, that introduces us to the five areas of essential work with strengths, step by step. It takes us from the beginnings of discovering strengths, to identifying their limits, to beginning to explore surprising and unique combinations. It also leaves room to recognize and discern the circumstances that lead to an extreme use of your strengths that can harm us, such as giving too much, forgiving the unforgivable, not knowing how to stop or not putting limits on excessive responsibility that leaves us exhausted.
In this exclusive workshop for the IE community, Eva Katharina Herber will present the advanced applications of the ABCDE model through the exploration of a real case taken from her book "Activa Tus Fortalezas. Desarrolla tu potencial más auténtico". After learning the five essential skills of strengths development, and taking home a toolbox of practical exercises, you'll leave the workshop with a plan of action for navigating the complexity of your life with the help of your strengths.
