We are excited to invite you to the second session of our Art & Law Speaker Series, organized by the IE Arts & Business Club and co-hosted by the IE Law School and the School of Humanities. This event explores the legal challenges and opportunities within the art market, focusing on the impact of new technologies and how the law can protect and promote both the art market and cultural heritage.  

Session Highlights
The session, titled "Legal Challenges and Opportunities in the Art Market", offers an in-depth look at the evolving legal landscape surrounding art and cultural heritage.  

Key topics include:  
•⁠ ⁠Legal frameworks supporting the art market.
•⁠ ⁠How new technologies are reshaping art law.
•⁠ ⁠Protecting and promoting cultural heritage in a digital world. 

About the Speakers
Rafael Mateu de Ros – is the founding partner of Ramón y Cajal Abogados, specializing in Corporate Law, Governance, Litigation and Arbitration, and Art and Heritage Law. A former State Attorney, he held key roles at the Ministry of Finance before moving to the private sector, notably as Secretary General and Board Member at Bankinter. He also holds doctorates in Law and Art History, and teaches Art Law at IE Law School. 

Patricia Fernández Lorenzo – is a collaborator at Ramón y Cajal Abogados. Specializes in art collecting, art trade, and cultural philanthropy. Patricia holds a PhD in History (UCM), focusing on art collecting between Spain and the U.S. She has a degree in Law and Economics (University of Deusto).
