Overview
This half-day training session, led by Prof. Dani Gamerman, is designed to support faculty in developing effective interdisciplinary collaborations. The session combines a keynote-style presentation with contributions from experienced researchers, followed by a structured and interactive roundtable. Additional contributions from invited participants will provide complementary perspectives based on their own interdisciplinary research experiences. The focus is on providing participants with practical guidance on how to initiate, structure, and sustain interdisciplinary research, with particular emphasis on the role of statisticians and data scientists in collaborative settings.
Motivation
Interdisciplinary research is increasingly central to addressing complex real-world problems. However, successful collaboration across disciplines requires specific skills: communicating across fields, aligning methodological approaches with domain knowledge, and navigating institutional and incentive structures. This training session, led by Prof. Dani Gamerman and enriched by contributions from invited experts, aims to make these challenges explicit and to provide concrete strategies, drawing on both high-impact research and lived experience from established collaborations.
