Details
From the IE Sustainable Development Goals club, we wanted to shed light on this important issue and have participants engage directly with the proposal of solutions to ensure the supply of clean energy for rural communities.
The first part of the workshop will involve brief presentations from professionals working in the field of renewable energies:
1. Luis Gabriel Catalan, from Siemens Energy Japan, will be explaining Biomass Energy
2. Rachel Ann Santiago, from WeGen Distributed Energy Philippines, will be explaining Solar Energy
3. Álvaro Pérez de Castro, from the EEW Group, will be explaining offshore wind energy
The second part will involve the resolution of a case study. Participants will be given information before the event about a rural community and its available resources, and they will be divided into three groups, one for each type of energy. Each group will have to propose how to install this renewable energy in the community and why it would be better than other types of renewable energies. During the preparation of their proposals, the speakers specialised in each type of energy will join the participants in the zoom breakout rooms to respond to any questions they may have.
Finally, each team will present its proposal to the rest of the participants, allowing to compare and contrast the benefits and drawbacks of the different energy types in a practical and educational way, beyond the traditional lecture format.
What are you waiting for? Join us in the big reset and learn from professionals how to power development in a clean and sustainable way.
