In this session, he will discuss key challenges facing democracy in the European Union today, including the rise of illiberalism and recent political developments, such as in Hungary. Together, we’ll explore questions around how shifts in power impact the EU, and what lessons can be drawn for the future of democratic systems in Europe.
Professor Kouroutakis will also present ideas from his book Rotation of Power: A Theory of Democratic Competition, offering a perspective on how democratic competition and the rotation of power shape resilient political systems.
The event will be an interactive discussion with plenty of room for audience questions, so come ready to engage, challenge ideas, and take part in the conversation!
