Frequently Asked Questions about Mentorship

1. How can I become a Mentor or Mentee?

Visit the "Apply now!" section of this website to know more about the application process for the incoming academic year.

2. Which campus should I apply to?

Please make sure you fill out your application for campus you WILL BE attending starting in SEPTEMEBRE of 2025. For example, if you studied in Segovia in Spring 2024 but will be moving to Madrid for the September semester, you need to apply for the Madrid campus.

3. When is the application deadline?

The final deadlines for applications will be on July 1st, however, there are limited spots available. Please apply as soon as the applications open to guarantee your participation in the program.

4. What about students who are going on exchange or doing an internship?

If you will be on exchange or an internship in the Fall 2025 semester (September-December) you are not eligible to be a Mentor. Only students who are face-to-face on campus in September 2025, are able to become Mentors.

5. When will I find out if I am a Mentor or Mentee?

Mentors will receive confirmation of their role as a Mentor via email during July.

We will announce the list of matches between Mentors and Mentees via email on August 15th. Keep your eye out on this email so we can inform you of the Kick Off event details!

6. Do I have to attend all events?

You should aim to attend all events hosted by the Mentorship Society in order to get the most out of your experience as a Mentor. The most important event of the semester is the Kick-Off.

7. Is there any training for Mentors?

Yes, all Mentors are required to attend one online session. These sessions will help you better understand your role as a Mentor and the expectations for you.

8. Can I choose my Mentor?

No, you cannot choose your Mentor. Using your information from the application forms, we do our best to match you to a Mentor who fits your interests or your school at IE University.

9. Where do I contact my Mentor/Mentee?

You will receive your Mentor's/Mentee's IEU student email address. Once you have contacted each other, you can choose to share other information with each other (ex: Instagram, WhatsApp).

10. When will I receive the information about the Kick-Off event?

The Kick-Off event will take place on Friday, September 5th, 2025. You will receive the full details of the event in your email with your Mentor/Mentee match in August.

12. Will I receive credits (ECTs) for being a Mentor?

The Mentor role is voluntary, and participating students will not receive ECTs for their participation. However your contribution to the IE Student Community will be greatly appreciated, most especially by the Mentees. We do, however, give a participatory certificate if you comply with all the requirements for the program.
