Alberto Alonso Inope

Microwd Perú

During my experience at Microwd Perú, I analyzed client portfolios to identify patterns affecting delinquency. I provided recommendations to reduce future risk and helped develop a Python program that assessed client risk profiles and categorized them according to SBS standards.

My experience was flexible, allowing collaboration across departments, with strong support from my supervisor throughout.

I had a great experience at Microwd Perú and enjoyed making a positive impact. I highly recommend it to future students for both the technical learning and social impact.

Commenting on Duna's participation

This summer, we were joined by 40 volunteers who helped with the different projects in Kenya, and Duna was one of the students from IE.

We are very pleased with Duna's work. She supported the educational program at a local school and greatly contributed to our social media efforts. She created several videos, including one for our fundraiser, which has over 50,000 views. We're really happy with her contributions!

This year's volunteer program was a great success, with all volunteers highly engaged and satisfied. Volunteers helped build a center for families with children with disabilities, nearly completing the first building. Additionally, 14 medical students screened over 700 patients and assisted at local hospitals. Duna participated in the educational program, contributing to its success as well.

Concepción Galdón

Vice Dean at IE University

"Volunteering is a wonderful way to contribute to society, learn new skills, and enrich your personal and professional life. As a student of IE University, you have the opportunity to participate in various volunteering projects that align with your interests and values. Volunteering will help you develop skills that are essential for your future career, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. You can also network with people who share your passion and vision, and who may become your mentors, friends, or collaborators. Volunteering can also boost your self-confidence, creativity, and empathy, as you face new challenges and learn from different perspectives. I can speak from my own experience as a volunteer and a social entrepreneur. I was involved in several volunteering initiatives during my own undergrad (many years ago), such as teaching young children in El Alto, Bolivia and in impoverished neighbourhoods in Madrid, and have continued to do so by mentoring young social innovators. These experiences have helped me grow as a person and a professional, and have inspired me to create positive impact in the world. I encourage you to join me and other IE University students in volunteering for a cause that matters to you. You will not only make a difference in the lives of others, but also in your own. Volunteering is a rewarding and meaningful way to spend your time, and you will never regret it."

Nicole Rosow

Director of Sustainability at IE University

"Volunteering has had both a profound personal and professional impact on my life. Engaging in volunteer work has been a journey of self-discovery, skill enhancement, and a source of immeasurable joy. Professionally, the value of volunteering is immeasurable. The skills acquired through volunteer work seamlessly translate into the workplace, making me a more effective and adaptable team member. From project management to interpersonal communication, the hands-on experiences gained through volunteering have proven to be an invaluable asset in my professional toolkit. Moreover, volunteering has provided a unique platform to network with individuals from diverse professional backgrounds. These connections have not only broadened my horizons, but have also opened doors to opportunities that I may not have encountered otherwise. The collaborative spirit cultivated in volunteer settings has translated into a heightened ability to work harmoniously within professional teams. It goes beyond the act of giving time; it is a transformative journey that shapes character, hones skills, and nurtures a profound sense of purpose."

Javier Miró

IE EMBA Alumni & Volunteering Program Coordinator

"I am passionate about volunteering, considering it a transformative journey of self-improvement through helping others. When it comes to university volunteering, I see two direct benefits: firstly, it provides a remarkable opportunity for younger students to gain professional experience and skills. You'll learn how to identify challenges, set goals, and measure results; you will learn how to teamwork, communicate and solve conflicts; you will acquire the skills to adapt your intervention to the ever changing needs of the beneficiaries; you will learn how to use scarce resources to reach the maximum result. The foundation of this experience lies in cultivating empathy and sympathy for the individuals you assist. Volunteering allows you to connect with individuals facing various situations, contributing to improving their life conditions while discovering new realities. I only wish I had this opportunity during my university days!"

Eva Valbuena

Former Executive Director, IE Talent & Careers Dept

"My experience in volunteering with AIESEC couldn't be better, it changed my life. I had the chance to collaborate with an exciting purpose, developing leadership skills in young people, improving my professional skills in a low-risk environment, and working in two international internships (in Turkey and in London). I was able to hold different executive positions in my local committee as Finance Director and President, facing the normal challenges of motivating a team, setting the direction, and getting specific results. It was very exciting to work on projects for our University at the Career Fair, different seminars, organizing exchanges with other countries, getting international internships for our members, such as being a member of the Organizing Committee of the Aiesec International Congress, and welcoming more than 500 members to Spain."
