About the visit:
In 1963, Revista de Occidente was published again, the iconic interwar magazine founded forty years earlier by the philosopher José Ortega y Gasset. Led by his son, editor José Ortega Spottorno, the publication took up the task with loyalty to its original purposes: thematic breadth, cosmopolitanism and clarity. Thus the hiatus caused by the storm of the Civil War and the first decades of the dictatorship was closed. In its second navigation, Revista de Occidente knew how to bring together the strands of knowledge dispersed by the vicissitudes of the century: that of the old masters and that of the new promotions, that which had remained in Spain and that which lived in exile, the expressed in Spanish and that disseminated in other languages. Combining all knowledge, the magazine contributed to normalizing intellectual life in a country in a state of democratic vigil. After celebrating its centenary in 2023, Revista de Occidente continues to face, month by month, contemporary reality, faithful to the vibrant plea of its founder.
The visit will be led by the exhibition´s curator, Juan Claudio de Ramón Jacob-Ernst.
