Debating has a long established history within higher education institutions all over the world – particularly in South Africa, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The IE student debating club meets for regular debates on campus on a wide variety of topics and compete against another institutions in national and international debates. The intent is to improve and refine debating and argumentation techniques while having a good time.
All of the events organised by the IE Debate Club are aimed to deliver priceless value to the members of the club in a form of development of personal skills as well as debate related skills such as the: critical thinking, public speaking, improved note-taking and increased self-confidence, enhanced teamwork skills and collaboration, as well as a greater understanding of the world and thought structure.
We regularly host events, that serve as a platform for opinion sharing, negotiating, debating and learning from each other as well as invited speakers
We also provide coaching (by the board team and a professional coach) that helps members to develop their interpersonal skills to succeed in debates, academically as well as everyday life
The club is a perfect platform to build strong and meaningful connections within the Madrid and Segovia campuses and around the world with students from debating communities
