This session introduces the basic concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its application in education. We begin by defining AI and exploring its historical evolution, highlighting its growing importance in the educational field. We distinguish between weak and strong AI and explain key concepts such as machine learning and deep learning. We focus on AI tools useful for educators: ChatGPT for generating content and answering questions, image generators like DALL-E and Midjourney for creating visual material, and automatic transcription and summarization tools for processing information. The session includes a practical activity where participants create a prompt for ChatGPT related to their subject, allowing them to directly experiment with AI. We conclude with a question-and-answer session to address doubts and delve into topics of interest. The goal is to provide educators with a basic understanding of AI and how they can integrate it into their teaching practices, fostering innovation and improving the learning experience for students. This introduction to GenAI aims to empower educators with knowledge and practical skills to leverage AI in their classrooms, enhancing both teaching methods and student engagement.
