Brain Science in Criminal Law and Justice

The IEU Law Society had the privilege of hosting Professor Federicca Coppola, who delved into the fascinating realm of 'Uses and Misuses of Brain Science in Criminal Law and Justice.' In this engaging event, we discovered an interdisciplinary and innovative way of thinking about criminal responsibility, providing a different lens on punishment. It was an enlightening discussion that illuminated the intersection of neuroscience and the legal system, sparking thought-provoking conversations among attendees.


Unbreakable Conference

On October 18 we had the honor of co-hosting the Unbreakable Conference alongside the IE Girl Up Club! Expert moderator Anita Fuentes led two panels including legal experts Laura López Orós and Yoko Takagi.

Together, we engaged in thoughtful dialogue about the obstacles women face in the legal industries and how we can work to dismantle them. Keep an eye out for future events like this!

In this event, co-sponsored with the IE Arbitration Club, we discover the secrets to a rewarding career in arbitration with our amazing speakers: ANA MARTÍNEZ VALLS, ANGELA PORTOCARRERO, and AIDA RODRÍGUEZ OLEA.


Talk with Mateus Costa-Ribeiro

In this event, The Law Society received Mateus Costa-Ribeiro. Mateus graduated as the youngest lawyer in Brazil, having obtained his Bachelor of Laws at the age of eighteen. He proceeded to continue his studies and acquired an LLM from Harvard Law School. He currently works with Capital Markets and Mergers and acquisitions at Millbank LLP, a New York Big Law firm, and as a product at Quansa, a tech company promoting a multitude of financial products/services in Brazil and Chile.


Women in Law

In the event “Women in law”, organized by the IE University Law Society & IE Women in Business Club, we received the Banking and Finance Partner at Eversheds Sutherland Spain, Teresa Villarroya Vargas.

We had the opportunity to learn about her experience in the legal field as a former Master’s degree in Corporate Legal Advisory from IE Law School.

At the end of the event, IE Campus Life provided us with a space to network!


The constitutional process in Chile

The IEU Law Society organized an event with professor Sonsoles Arias Guedón and professor Sergio Verdugo to illustrate Chile's constitutional process.

At this event, we had the opportunity to learn about the history of Chile, as well as the political and social changes that have led to the enactment of a new constitution. Not forgetting, of course, the impact of the same.


The European Digital Agenda & Competitive Framework

IE University had the incredible privilege of hosting Executive Vice President of the European Commission, Margrethe Vestager, in a discussion titled "The European Digital Agenda & Competitive Framework.”


Webinar: Legal Advice for Startups

The IEU Law Society carried out two webinar sessions "General Legal Issues in the creation of startups" & "Specific Legal Issues in the creation of startups" with Amalia Carrillo.
