The second edition of IE’s World Mental Health Days will have “What I Wish I Had Known About…” as its theme.
We want to put focus on the power of lived experience and create a conversation in our community around different topics our students wish they had known more about.
Events will cover topics such as therapy, mental illness, sex, relationships, social media, and addiction.

12:30 PM – 2:00 PM
Social media is a huge part of our lives. We can do everything on social media, connect with friends, fall in love, buy clothes, network, and find jobs. However, research increasingly shows the risks of excessive use of social media in our mental and physical health. In honor of the IE Mental Health Days join us to explore what the risks of social media are, and how to best manage those.
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
Whether anxiety causes you to feel physically ill or keeps you awake for countless hours, it can be quite uncomfortable, and its effects are often far-reaching. It can take a toll on almost every area of your life.
As part of the IE World Mental Health Days, we want to help develop a better understanding of what anxiety is, and how to manage it, which can be key to living a better life.
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Have you ever tried drugs? Do you know which drugs are more addictive? Which combinations can be dangerous? Are you curious to know about how your brain works on drugs? And how do drugs affect your brain's chemistry? Join us for our IE World Mental Health Days to find out the answers to these questions and learn more about drugs and the effects they have on your mental health.

In honor of the IE World Mental Health Days, we want to create a conversation around Sex.
Where have you learned about sex?
Who taught you about sex? And what did they tell you?
How has this affected how you experience sex?
We would like to start a conversation in our community to begin filling in the blanks in our sex education.

There exist many myths and mysteries about therapy. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Week, we are dedicating this event to answering common questions and challenging myths around Therapy.
We will have the honor of having as a guest speaker therapist Carmen de Lisa, she will share with us her experience both being a patient and a therapist.
Carmen started going to therapy as a teenager and has been in different therapeutic processes ever since. During this event we will learn about both sides of the therapeutic experience, and will allow us to think about and answer different issues or questions we might have:
Fears and concerns of first-timers
What if I don't connect with my therapist?
How do I know if I need to go to therapy?
What goals or objectives should I have in my therapeutic process?
Does my therapist judge me?
Can I lie to my therapist?
These and many more will be covered in this event. Please join us to get an insight into the things you wish to know about therapy.
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
Love is one of the most profound emotions known to human beings. While the need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. It’s human nature to seek contact and relationships, to seek love, support, and comfort in others. In fact, according to research, the ‘need to belong’ is one of the main forces that drives individuals.
But when thinking about relationships some questions may arise:
What are attachment styles and how do they affect our relationships?
Have you noticed repeating patterns in your love life?
What should a healthy relationship look like?
What are red flags?
What is affective responsibility?
In honor of the IE World Mental Health Days, we want to shed light on The Psychology of Dating and Relationships. We will be giving an answer to these questions and many more. Please join the conversation!
