Frequently Asked Questions

THE EVENT

  • What is the Global Alumni Weekend?

The Global Alumni Weekend, or GAW, is IE Alumni’s event of the year: a unique opportunity to come back home and reconnect with the places, things, and people that marked a defining moment in their professional and personal lives. It is a weekend packed with activities in which assistants can reunite, learn, network, and socialize with classmates, other alumni, and professors, and involve their families with the IE community.

  • Where and when does it take place?

The GAW usually takes place the first full weekend of June in Madrid, Spain. In 2024, the dates of the event are Friday, June 7th, Saturday, June 8th, and Sunday, June 9th. This year, Friday's and Saturday's activities will take place at the IE Tower (P.º de la Castellana, 259, 28029 Madrid) and Sunday's brunch will take place at the Maria Molina IE Campus (C/ María de Molina, 31. 28006 Madrid, Spain). The Gala Dinner will take place at the Círculo de Bellas Artes (C/ de Alcalá 42).

  • Which Class Reunions will be held during this year's GAW?

Every year we celebrate milestone anniversaries. This year, the following Graduation years will be celebrated at the GAW 2024:

    • 30-Year Class Reunions (Graduated in 1994)
    • 25-Year Class Reunions (Graduated in 1999)
    • 20-Year Class Reunions (Graduated in 2004)
    • 15-Year Class Reunions (Graduated in 2009)
    • 10-Year Class Reunions (Graduated in 2014)
    • 5-Year Class Reunions (Graduated in 2019)

If you want to celebrate your class reunion at the GAW 20204 please email us at globalalumniweekend@ie.edu.

For further information regarding Class Reunions, check the "Class Reunions" section on this website.

  • How can my class celebrate our Class Reunion? Is there a deadline?

Class Reunion planning requires at least six months in advance, because we build Class Reunion Committees with one or two representatives from each section per intake, and they support us with spreading the word to their class and with planning activities around the ones we organize at the GAW. Many people also travel for this occasion, which is why planning in advance is important.

If you want to celebrate your class reunion at the GAW 2024 please email us at globalalumniweekend@ie.edu. The deadline to have your reunion celebrated at the GAW 2024 is May 1st.

For further information regarding Class Reunions, check the "Class Reunions" section on this website.

We look forward to seeing you at the GAW 2024!

  • Can I attend even if I’m not celebrating my Class Reunion?

Absolutely! As mentioned before, all IE alumni are welcome to be part of the GAW. We encourage you to register and to spread the word among your classmates and friends, the more the merrier!

  • Can I come with my partner and children? Do they have to pay?

Partners and children are welcome! Your family is an important part of the IE alumni community. All attendees need a  ticket to attend the GAW. See the ticket section of this website to purchase tickets.

Child Care services will be available on Friday until 21:30 and Saturday until 17:00 for kids ages 2 to 12 at the IE Tower while you are enjoying the activities. Don’t forget to buy a Kids Area ticket for your child when you register to the event.

Children between the ages 2 and 12 will be entertained and supervised by childcare professionals in the Kids Area. Please note that you must register all children attending. Children that are not registered prior to the event will not be able to access the GAW. Children who are too old to joinf the Kids Area will need a general ticket to attend.

  • What does the Gala entail?

On the night of the 8th of June, we will host a Gala Dinner at an emblematic Madrid venue, to enjoy a delicious dinner and celebrate the EPIC Awards.

The black-tie Gala dinner is a night to remember, an opportunity to dress up and enjoy with your fellow alumni, starting with a welcome aperitif, followed by a formal sit down dinner, and the EPIC Awards ceremony— where we will unveil and celebrate our EPIC Award winners. The night closes with music and full open bar to enjoy and celebrate to the fullest.

Dress-Code: wear your fanciest evening gown, tuxedo, or formal attire.
