Tools are organized by categories and each listing includes a short description for the tool as well as a link with further information. Please note that only some of these external tools are supported by IE with regards to licensing, technical support and instructional design training. Most tools have been recommended by faculty who has used them successfully in their teaching.

Live Class Interactivity

What’s it for: Video conferencing, polling, breakout discussions, hybrid classroom

Description: Zoom is the tool used for live video conferences at IE. It includes features to enhance student engagement by creating polls and using breakout rooms for small group discussions. It can also be used for screen casting and the recording of short video lectures.

Description: On Blackboard Ultra students can access different types of information, such as agenda, course syllabus, study materials or grades.

Description: Google Forms is a tool that allows collecting information from users through a personalized survey or quiz. The information is then collected and automatically connected to a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is populated with the survey and quiz responses.

Description: Screencastify is a free Chrome extension that “lives” in your browser. Screencastify makes it easy to record, edit, and share videos of your computer screen. Your recordings can be saved directly to your Google Drive. Recordings can easily be shared via email, embedding code, YouTube, Google Classroom, and more.
