IE University, the place where the Next 50 years will unfold.
Humanity is at an exciting point in time, looking at a future deeply connected with technology. Our role is clear: we create technology and learn how to use it wisely. Technology has changed the world in the last 50 years with very important advances such as the internet, AI, new communication channels or VR among others. The next 50 years promise unprecedented technological revolution.
Technology by itself isn't good or bad, it's simply a tool waiting to be used. How we use it will demonstrate our core values and beliefs. We shape our tools, but after a point, our tools start to shape us. Our future generations will tell stories about us based on the decisions we make today, not only about technology, but also about politics, law, society, sustainability, business, and fundamental values instilled through education.
The speed at which technology is growing gives us many possibilities for the future. As we become less constrained by routine tasks, what new things will we envision and achieve? How will we solve the problems we face today?
In this ever-evolving future, the role of education in shaping humanity is vital. Educational institutions have the responsibility of fostering critical thinking and inspiring a deeply humanistic perspective in their students. This preparation ensures that when graduates step into the world, they hold the capacity to evaluate situations and make decisions grounded in ethical, critical, and human-centric considerations. When these individuals engage in the design, approval, testing, or development of technology that intersects with human life, they must reflect on the ways these advancements positively impact humanity to avoid negative consequences for society.
IE University has a huge responsibility to shape individuals who not only excel in their fields, but also drive change for the benefit of society. These individuals must not only be innovators, but also protectors of the human essence. They are not merely technologists; they are curators of technology. They hold the sensitivity to unravel the complexities of technology and apply them in real-world contexts, be it for social evolution, commercial growth, or other aspirations. Essentially, they are professionals filled with a special "human touch."

Experience a snapshot of the world 50 years from now, understanding how it may change the way we live and think. This isn’t just about seeing the future; it’s about inspiring us to work towards the best version of ourselves and our world.

The event of the year is just around the corner!
All year, IE University has been celebrating its 50th anniversary with the campaign The Next Fifty, looking to the future of education and the incredible innovations it holds. A year’s worth of fascinating initiatives and activities will come to a close with our grand finale this November 14th: an event packed with interactive exhibits, VR, artist collaborations, and so much more.
These interactive experiences will help us imagine what the future holds for both education and society at large, as well as the role we can play in building a better tomorrow in different sectors. Each school will have its own unique exhibit – and a few extra surprises await, too.
This exciting event will take place on Floor -4 in the IE Tower and you are invited to come and discover around anytime between 11am–4pm.
It’ll be a full house, so don’t forget to register ASAP. See you there!
