A 20th-century study shows that among 699 eminent figures, over half had lost a parent by the age of 25 (Eisenstadt, J. M., 1978). This is about 8 times higher than the estimated average. Today, an important fraction of successful entrepreneurs – responsible for founding companies like Apple, Ford, Amazon, Mercedes-Benz, Alibaba, LinkedIn, HP, eBay, Walt Disney, and Rolex – have all faced the loss of a parent at a young age. Given this correlation, have adults who lost a parent early in life developed traits that contribute to entrepreneurial success?
Anna's Comment about the project
This thesis set out to explore a profound question: How do early life adversities, such as the loss of a parent, shape a person’s trajectory, and what does that mean for how we understand resilience and success? Through an in-depth qualitative exploration of six entrepreneurs’ lives, we found an answer.

In this Capstone project, I wrote about the relationship between Depression and Empathy. In the project, I cover the current literature around the topic, and then using the results of my own qualitative interviews, I conduct the drawing of a conclusion based on both.
Constantin's Comment about the project
My hope for this project is that it will help people to get a better understanding of one aspect of mental health, which was a big part of my own Mental Health journey.
