Crafting Powerful Narratives from Personal Experience

By Javier Bernad IE Business School Profesor.

1. Keep a Digital or Physical Journal of Stories

Always keep a list of stories on your phone or notebook. Document moments from your life along with the message or lesson that you associate with each event. Give this expierences more significance than they might seem at first glance.

2. Build Tension and Let the Climax Explode

Every great story needs a build-up. Ensure that your story includes a rising action that leads to a powerful climax.  Don't skip over this build-up! Whether it’s a success, failure, or revelation, the climax of your story should feel inevitable and impactful.

3. Own Your Story – Everyone is a Storyteller

Everyone is a storyteller—you just have to believe in your own voice. Your stories should be authentic and personal; they will never resonate the same way if they aren’t truly yours. The emotions and insights are more powerful when they come from your own lived experience
